The start to what I'm sure will be another great series by my favorite author Caroline Mitchell! With an unexpected storyline and a wonderfully complex cast of characters, this was a great read. I love a fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat psychological thriller and this one had it all. And the surprise twist after I thought the story had ended was the best! Caroline Mitchell can't write them fast enough for me, so I'll be impatiently waiting for her next book.

The story line is amazing. You start reading and won't stop until the end. I give it 5 stars for amazing storyline, characters, and WOW, I had no clue of the ending. I loved it! I can't wait for the next book. This is my new favorite!

I thought this was a good book.. Some of the things in the book were hard to read . But it kept my interest and I was hoping to find out more about Amy. The author next book will be coming out in March..I really hope that Lillian gets her just This is my first book by Caroline Mitchell and she is a good writer

Great thriller and a great beginning to this series. DO Any Winter had a great shock when she found out about her biological parents. Her birth mother a serial killer with an agenda of her own. Kept me interested until the end. I recommend this book.

Caroline never fails and this book is no different. I couldn't put it down & read it in under 2 days. It made me hold my breath too many times to count. The twists, turns & suspense keep you constantly engrossed. You can't help but love some characters & despise others. This book is another example as to why Caroline is one of my favourite authors. Can't wait for the next one!!

What horrible beginning to her life. But Amy look down in was adopted by excellent parents. But what a nightmare the biological parents gave the world. This book was very well written very hard to put down. As I said, it's absolutely excellent!

When exactly Cennino Cennini put together his famous handbook is not clear. It must have been quite early in the fifteenth century, for although his stated intention is to provide advice "for the use and good and profit of anyone who wants to enter this profession" (1), he has only very little to say about oil painting and seems unaware of the latest developments of that exciting new medium in the early decades of the century. (It was enough, though, to disprove the contention of Giorgio Vasari and others that oil painting had been invented by Jan van Eyck.) In any case, it is absolutely a book intended for the professional, for the active practitioner, the working artist, and one can note that most of the reviewers on this site have praised it for the practical advice it provides. It has also been reported that it was an important source-book and wellspring of useful technical information for Eric Hebborn, the notorious English art forger and author of his own handbook ("The Art Forger's Handbook," 1997), who is reputed to have employed Cennini's technique of using egg-white to simulate the appearance of aged varnish.I am not an artist and have never painted anything but some old furniture, a couple of book-cases and a dog house--and I must confess to never even having forged a Renaissance masterpiece--so to me this book is of no practical use, but it is greatly entertaining as well as historically informative. Just to realize the huge amount of preparatory labor a fourteenth- or fifteenth-century artist had to accomplish in order to get ready to work adds a humbling perspective to the art we so easily admire on the walls of our museums. And there are some wonderful insights into the times, too, such as the use of chicken bones: the older the better, "just as you find them under the dining-table" (5) and, while giving "the exact proportions of a man," dispensing with those of a woman, "for she does not have any set proportion" (48). There is practical advice here for almost anything a contemporary artist might have been called upon to do, from drawing for embroiderers to waterproofing a wall with boiled oil, but behind it all is Cennino's sense of his profession as having the dignity of a calling and requiring a measured life-style, "just as if you were studying theology, or philosophy," and he admonishes the fledgling artist to eat and drink moderately and, in order to ensure an unwavering and unfluttering hand, to avoid "indulging too much in the company of woman" (16). Obviously, times have changed, and that makes up a great deal of the charm of this book for one like myself, who is not about to enter the profession but who nevertheless also found in it much "use and good and profit."

This book was recommended to me a year ago at a scribal arts meeting for illuminators and I was intrigued. A year later I bought the book to get my "free shipping" and I'm kicking myself for waiting! It is filled with exactly what it says...historical drawing techniques as well as recipes and keen insight into the materials used by the great masters. This is a wonderful book for those of us who are medieval re-enactors, and who are wanting to teach and demonstrate the authentic methods to a modern audience. As an added bonus for SCAdians, this is a primary resource since it is an actual translation from a medieval manuscript. BIG cha-ching!

This book was exactly what I needed! I was working as a propmaster for a play set in Italy during the 16th century, and needed to make historically accurate brushes. There are scarce few pictures of art supplies during that period, so this book was an amazing find. I was able to make brushes by following the instructions fairly easily, and learned so much about different art techniques during that period in history. A fantastic book, whether you need it for a reference, love history, or love art. I would definitely recommend this book.

If your an artist or art lover you'll enjoy reading how artists made brushes, paints and enhanced their craft many centuries ago.

Very interesting insights into how art processes got to where they are. A bit hard to read with all the footnotes and archaic language and sentence structure, but worth the effort. A book for the more scholarly student of art or someone who just likes to know why.

While primarily of use for oil painting, the information about color mixing, and the qualities of the colors themselves, as well as the technical aspects of the craft are priceless. I have all of the books written by Mel Bartholomew about Square Foot gardening. This one updates the material and is much easier to read. Mel would be proud of what the SFG Foundation has written. I recommend this for anyone who wants to start an easier method to home gardening.

I’ve heard this was THE book to start with for beginner gardeners and so glad we did. It covers all of the basics and more advanced projects. Illustrations are excellent and the author is thorough in explaining concepts.

The new edition is better than ever. I use the book as a bible for the classes I teach. And I use it as my guide for my own personal organic gardening.

This is a great book. The third edition has been updated with color photographs to be more user friendly.

This book is always a pleasure to read - approachable and easy to understand. I give it out often for those just starting their gardening adventures.

This is my third version. Always informative and practical.

This was a thought-provoking read. Although it was quite dated, unfortunately much of it is still relevant today.Some interesting quotes:“If you have total government it makes little difference whether you call it Communism, Fascism, Socialism, Caesarism or Pharaohism. It's all pretty much the same from the standpoint of the people who must live and suffer under it.”“FDR once said ‘In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way.’”“If you study Marx' Communist Manifesto you will find that in essence Marx said the proletarian revolution would establish the SOCIALIST dictatorship of the proletariat. To achieve the SOCIALIST dictatorship of the proletariat, three things would have to be accomplished: (1) The elimination of all right to private property; (2) The dissolution of the family unit; and (3) Destruction of what Marx referred to as the "opiate of the people," religion.”

The One World Order exposed. One of the chapters deals with Richard Nixon. As Congressman and Vice President under Ike Eisenhower, Nixon accomplished a lot of good things for America, including Affirmative Actions, which gave hitherto abandoned ex-slaves and their progeny a leg up into educated American society. Those were the golden years of American prosperity and value system, and Richard Nixon worked hard in DC to make sure mind pollution did not infiltrate our country. Then came the losses to the more photogenic JFK for president and against Reagan for CA governor. This book exposes that Nixon sold his soul to the Rockefeller political machine to win the presidential elections after LBJ. His putative running mate, Nelson Rockefeller, died in flagrante delicto before their campaign got off the ground, but Nixon was still obliged to the Rockefellers and their political machine, the Counsel of Foreign Relations (CFR). CFR president, Henry Kissinger, effectively became the president, especially in foreign affairs, and caused Nixon to do extremely uncharacteristic things like open up relations with communist China, after spending a lifetime of keeping communists out of the US. .There are other uncharacteristic things Nixon was forced to do, many are listed in this book, until Nixon was finally thrown under the bus through the Watergate issue. I had always wondered how to reconcile a true hero during the 1950's, with the shady person who had to resign his presidency in the early 1970's. This book does a good job at explaining what happens when a person of hitherto integrity sells his soul to the One World Order demon, in the guise of the Rockefeller family in this instance. It's also a decent expose on what the One World Order is doing and wants to do in our world. Not good for people looking for opportunity in life. .

Although written in 1972, this book seems just as timely in 2017. It provides essential clarity and context to events which transpired in the 1960's and 1970's, and provides the framework and foundation for you to connect the dots throughout the intervening decades to the present. The very fact that the book helps to elucidate subsequent history and current events simply reaffirms its essential truth. As you observe the unfolding Trump presidency this book will help put his every action in context so you can determine whether he is part of the problem or part of the solution.

Good information. In the light of 2017, making even more clear the socialist agenda. Substitute Antifa for the radicals in the sixties and you see the same tend. In the book it is laughable the debt in 1968. Now we have 21 trillion and moving up. But, as the author mentions, it really makes no difference. The Fed has to continue to demand more money be "spent" by congress, sold as debt by the treasury to both bankers and the Fed. Bankers in the end, get interest plus the six percent dividend from the fed. The cycle can't stop until you have a world government.We have to live in the world that is given us. But reading this kind of information allows you to see the current world news in a different light and allows you to structure investments accordingly. This book to me clearly points out the difference between money and currency, and who controls that process.

Rooted in World Banking, they perpetuated the concept of Socialism and controlling the world population with their oligopoly pulling strings.This conspiracy started with names of men you know – Rothschild, Morgan, Rockefeller, and their families’ hand-picked wealthy cohorts over the centuries. Their banks and ancestors bankrolled warring parties, sometimes both sides of the battle, and presently control the world's currency movement.They unscrupulously manipulated politicos and news around the world to keep them as the Established Elite. Allen and Abraham’s short discourse is up to and including the Nixon Administration.The author of this review has done some precursory study of present-day politics (2010 -2016), and has found that CFR was active in the Obama Administration, but not so in the new Trump government. This will be discussed at another time on my new Website.What I will say is that this book filled the gaps in my understanding of what happening in the world and to me via Vietnam and college where I read CFR’s quarterly Foreign Affairs at our campus library.
