This is a VERY nice book! It has mostly color photos in it, along with different things people have said about the bridge. The book simply didn't have all the facts about the bridge that I thought it would, but that's okay--it is still a good book. I can sure understand why others like this book--the photos are very nice to look at. One of the Wonders of the Modern World. This is truly a gorgeous book. In addition to the outstanding photography -- not surprising coming from a photographer of Morton Beebe's caliber -- the book is fantastic to hold and enjoy with well-styled pages and bright, vibrant images that capture not only the beauty and grandeur of one of the world's greatest bridges, but also its amazing setting.In terms of the book itself, the trend appears to be moving away from large, heavy tomes to smaller, more comfortable formats, such as this one. Unexpectedly, I find myself preferring these new, smaller books. In the case of The Golden Gate, fortunately, nothing has been lost -- in fact, the pictures appear brighter and sharper than comparable photo books I've seen and owned.All in all, this is a beautiful book that I've been reading and scanning and rereading as the big anniversary of the bridge approaches. I'm also getting a few extra copies as gifts for friends and clients. Highly recommended.

This book was a little smaller than I expected for a coffee table book but I should have looked at the dimensions so that was definitely my fault. Very nice pictures though. My Amish friend loved it and that's the only thing that was important. He loves learning everything he can about he Golden Gate Bridge. It was definitely a good value.

Excellent pictures but I wish that the book would have been bigger. The smaller format doesn't do the photos justice.

Heads up - this book is 6 x 6 inches - Ok for a midget coffee table..

Things change, but books do not update themselves. If you like tangible items and reading from actual books then you probably hate trees and shouldn't be hiking. Yet you are wanting to buy this book and walk among the trees and laugh with their dead cousin in your hand as I did. To my dismay the book was outdated and led me astray. Touche trees, touche.This book is outdated, but a good reference to find some hikes near Sacramento. Make sure you look on the web before you go to your selected hike though as things change.

Okay, I know it can't have all the hikes, but he left out some of the ones I wanted to know more about. Other than that, this is the best book on hiking this area that I've found, and I particularly appreciate that he mentions exposure (shaded or not), as that can be brutal here for several months of the year. His descriptions of the difficulty seem reasonable compared to my own experience of some of the hikes. I use this book to give me ideas rather than be the only authority on the area, so I usually check out other online maps and satellite images before I take an extended hike. Also, pay attention to what season you're going in, because the waterfalls around here can dry up in the summer and wildflowers are very seasonal. Given all that, it's still a very helpful book that's got me going to some places I'd never heard of, so thanks for that!

Great book if you live in or around sacramento...All the best local hikes are in here...very detailed...highly recommend for sacramento area hikers.

Very useful and has helped our family find some great trails

This is our second time purchasing this book; the first was for us (five years ago) and now as a gift for a friend who enjoys hiking. Book is very inclusive and thorough, providing a list of many great trails along with details such as: difficulty, length, trail descriptions, sights along the way, directions/access, nearby attractions, etc. Superb!

This is a great guide if you live in the area. The only disappointment was to find out that the only way they were able to make it 60 hikes was to include walks around local parks on paved paths.

Gave it as a birthday gift, she absolutely loves it!

I was looking for a book on short 2-3 hour day hikes. I hit the mother lode with this one. I have also given copies to fellow hiking buddies who were interested as well.

This book is easy for the beggining student to follow and to learn to play the clarinet without having the opportunity to learn from either a real music teacher or from a school based music program.
