Risk professionals seeking practical methods for modeling risk using spreadsheets will be interested in "Practical Spreadsheet Risk Modeling for Management," which takes a "learn by doing" approach to learning the basic and advanced methods of evaluating risk quantitatively. The book makes full use of ModelRisk (Vose Software), the world's most advanced risk analysis modeling add-in solution for Excel (Microsoft). ModelRisk adds critical functionality to Excel, including stochastic (Monte Carlo) simulation, sensitivity analysis, object modeling, multivariate correlations (copulas), autoregressive forecasting, global optimization, expert elicitation tools, Bayesian averaging for fitted models, interpolation, distribution splicing, object modeling, and more. I have adopted "Practical Spreadsheet Risk Modeling for Management" as the standard textbook for my online training courses that I teach in risk analysis modeling around the world.

The content of the book is fine. However, it appears the book missed going to a editor for review. There are some inconsistencies among the text which made it rather hard to digest.

The book needs to be reviewed for errors and omissions.

Practical Spreadsheet Risk Modeling for Management truly is an ESSENTIAL resource for Vose Software ModelRisk users. The text walks users through the process of risk modeling, presenting principles and techniques in practical terms. If you seek a way to model uncertainty with ModelRisk, this book provides guidance beyond what's available in the Vose Software Help File. The text offers numerous examples, enabling users to replicate processes and results appearing in the text. Users can download exemplary spreadsheets enabling replication of the text illustrations. At least three other properties render this book extraordinarily useful: Content is devoted to practical application, not theory. It's written in plain American English, unlike many books devoted to statistical analysis. The book's organization is logical, leading readers from the fundamentals to more advanced processes. The Vose Software Help File is useful. However, this text brings it all together for ModelRisk users.

In order to evaluate Risk, you will need to well understand your problem, identify the correct variables, modeling a spreadsheet, chose the correct distribution, make the correlations, etc. Not easy tasks!A Practical book to help us to learn how to do it is a must. I agree with other reviewers this one is truly an essential resource. Lots of examples, ease to read and understand.
